We spent two weeks in the fall of 2025 in the historic caffès of Torino and the wider Piemonte. Under the porticos of Italy’s first capital, these caffès still pour espresso from first light and vermouth di Torino by dusk, with a square of gianduja, the city’s chocolate-hazelnut confection, on the side. We met the roasters, vermouth makers, confectioners and owners keeping the tradition alive.

from the zine
Caffès on every corner, waiting, from the first rays of sunlight to the first flush of dusk, with an espresso, a pour of bracing vermouth di Torino, and a sumptuous piece of gianduja.
